ZPL Label Size Calculator

Convert physical label dimensions to integer ^PW and ^LL values for a selected printer DPI. Enter your known values; results update as you type.

Inputs

In selected mm units

Calculated result

Width × length in dots1181 × 591
Actual physical size99.991 × 50.038 mm
Print width command^PW1181
Label length command^LL591
These values are a starting point, not a ZPL renderer. Printer calibration, print mode, media sensing and installed settings still matter.

How to use this calculator

Start with the deterministic fixture values already shown, then replace each input with measurements from your job. Use consistent units and review the highlighted assumptions before using the result in purchasing or production.

Formula and method

Width and height are independently converted to nearest integer dots. Landscape orientation swaps the physical axes before creating ^PW for print width and ^LL for label length.

Worked example

A 100 × 50 mm portrait label at 300 DPI becomes 1,181 × 591 dots, producing ^PW1181 and ^LL591. Its integer-rounded physical size is about 99.991 × 50.038 mm.

How to interpret the result

Copy the two commands into a controlled test format, then check the printer configuration and calibrate with the intended media.

Limitations

This is not a ZPL renderer. Print mode, calibration, media tracking, origin commands, installed printer limits and firmware settings still apply.
