Assumptions and warnings

  • Roll yield uses geometric web-length approximation and includes 3% waste.
  • Ribbon usage assumes one label across and one pitch of ribbon per label.
  • Confirm ribbon width/coating, printer media width, sensing and calibration before production.
  • Costs are estimates from entered values; tax, shipping, downtime and consumables are excluded.

How to use this calculator

Start with the deterministic fixture values already shown, then replace each input with measurements from your job. Use consistent units and review the highlighted assumptions before using the result in purchasing or production.

Formula and method

The planner reuses the same dot conversion, ZPL sizing, roll geometry, ribbon yield and cost modules as the individual tools. Counts are rounded up for required rolls and ribbons.

Worked example

The default 10,000-label, 100 × 75 mm job at 300 DPI calculates 1,181 × 886 dots, ^PW1181 / ^LL886, approximate roll and ribbon requirements, and a material estimate from the fixture prices.

How to interpret the result

Export the estimate for review, share a URL containing non-sensitive inputs, and print the technical job sheet for the production packet.

Limitations

All outputs depend on entered assumptions. Confirm actual roll yield, ribbon compatibility, printer limits, barcode requirements and calibration before releasing work.
